What is Thyroid Cancer?
Wed, 11 Dec 2024Thyroid cancer is a serious condition affecting the thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped organ located at the front of the neck. This gland plays a vital role in regulating metabolism, protein production, and hormonal sensitivity.
There are four main types of thyroid cancer: papillary, follicular, medullary, and anaplastic, each with distinct characteristics and risks. Risk factors include high radiation exposure, family history, and iodine deficiency. Women are more susceptible to thyroid cancer than men, particularly after the age of 40.
Symptoms to watch out for include a lump in the neck, hoarseness, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes. Sahabat PRAMITA is encouraged to seek medical consultation if experiencing any of these signs for early diagnosis and effective treatment.
