Stop Squeezing Pimples!
Fri, 28 Nov 2025Friend PRAMITA, the teenage years are a phase that is fun as well as full of challenges. One challenge that often makes one insecure is the appearance of pimples. Sometimes it feels like just one has healed, eh a new one has appeared in another place. Actually, why are pimples so identical with the teenage years, and is it true that squeezing them is a forbidden action? Let's, we discuss it thoroughly!
Cause of Pimples Often Appearing in Teenage Years
The appearance of pimples in teenage years is not a curse, but rather a side effect of big changes inside the body. When entering puberty, the body starts to produce hormones in larger quantities. Just imagine this hormone as a "commander" that gives orders to the whole body. One of its orders is to tell the oil glands in the skin to work more actively.
As a result, the production of oil or sebum becomes excessive. This oil, coupled with the buildup of dead skin cells and dirt, becomes the main cause of clogged pores. These clogged pores are the perfect "home" for acne-causing bacteria to multiply. Thus becomes the inflammation that we know as a pimple, whether it is a red spot, a bump, or one that has pus.
Stop! This is the Reason Pimples Should Not Be Squeezed
It feels so tempting to want to squeeze a pimple that is already "ripe". But, hold on first! Squeezing a pimple is a very bad idea for several crucial reasons:
Pushing the Infection Deeper: When a pimple is squeezed, the bacteria and dirt inside not only come out, but can also be pushed further into the deeper layers of the skin. This triggers a more severe inflammation, making the pimple become bigger, redder, and more painful.
Spreading Bacteria to Other Areas: Our fingers are never truly sterile. When touching and squeezing a pimple, bacteria from the hands can move to the face. Conversely, bacteria from a popped pimple can also spread to other pores around it, triggering the appearance of new pimples. The term is, from one becomes a thousand!
Leaving Permanent Scars: This is the most feared consequence. Forcibly squeezing a pimple will damage the skin tissue. In response, the body will try to repair that damage, but often the process is not perfect. The result is a scar that is difficult to remove, ranging from dark spots (hyperpigmentation) to holes or pitted scars on the face.
So, instead of squeezing it, it is wiser to treat the skin with patience using the right products and maintaining facial hygiene.
