The keto diet remains highly popular for those seeking rapid weight loss. The core concept of this diet is quite unique: strictly cutting carbohydrate intake to under 50 grams per day and replacing it with massive amounts of dietary fat. The main goal is to force the body into a state of ketosis, where fat is burned as the primary energy source instead of carbs.

Initially, this diet is indeed proven to shed weight effectively and help control blood sugar levels. However, a major misconception occurs when people carelessly follow this high-fat diet for years without taking a break. Consistently consuming massive amounts of fat over the long term can spell disaster for your internal organs, particularly your liver.

When the body is forced to process massive amounts of fat every single day, the liver works overtime.
