Coconut water often becomes the main choice when thirsty, especially during hot weather or after activity. Its taste is refreshing, natural, and is often said to have many health benefits. No wonder coconut water is often chosen by sahabat PRAMITA. But is every claim about its benefits true?

Scientifically, coconut water contains natural sugars, small amounts of protein and fat, as well as essential minerals like potassium, magnesium, and chloride. This makes coconut water resemble natural isotonic fluid, helping to replace body fluids after light exercise. However, it cannot replace all electrolyte needs, especially during heavy exercise that causes significant sodium loss. In such conditions, coconut water is not enough to prevent cramps or fainting.

Some people also believe coconut water can reduce weight. In fact, excessive consumption may cause diarrhea, which only appears to reduce weight temporarily. This is not a healthy way to achieve an ideal body. Coconut water is better used as a hydration complement, not as a substitute for a balanced diet.

Nutritionally, milk is far richer than coconut water, both in protein, vitamins, and minerals. So, the assumption that coconut water is more nutritious than milk is incorrect. Likewise, the claim that coconut water boosts immunity has no strong scientific evidence. Immunity is built through a diverse diet, enough rest, and a healthy lifestyle.

For preventing kidney stones, adequate fluid intake is important. Coconut water may be one option, but it cannot cure already-formed kidney stones. The same goes for the belief that coconut water can cure alcohol hangover. Its effect is temporary, and plain water or sugar-containing fluids remain better.

Conclusion: Myth or Fact?
The answer is a mix of myth and fact. Coconut water is refreshing, healthy, and beneficial as a natural drink, especially for light hydration. But not every popular claim is true. Enjoy coconut water in moderation, balance it with plain water, and maintain a nutritious diet.
