Maintaining Oral and Dental Health During Fasting

Wed, 25 Feb 2026

Fasting not only strengthens faith, but also improves overall health — including oral and dental health.

During fasting, changes in eating and drinking patterns affect the condition of the mouth. Saliva production decreases, which can lead to bad breath, mouth ulcers, bleeding gums, and even sudden toothaches.

To keep your fast comfortable, it’s important to prepare your dental health in advance. Have your teeth checked before Ramadan, brush regularly after suhoor and before bed, drink enough water when breaking your fast, avoid excessive sugary foods, and stop smoking.

Worship with ease, keep your mouth fresh, and stay confident throughout Ramadan.
