Knee Pain After Exercise
Fri, 1 Aug 2025Lately, an active lifestyle is mushrooming, especially among millennials. From morning running, yoga, zumba, to weight-lifting, exercise is not merely a healthy routine, but also already becomes part of self-identity. But, behind the sweating enthusiasm, there is one complaint that quite often appears—knees feel sore after exercising.
Why Can (They) Hurt?
The knee is one of the body parts that is busiest when moving. Every time running, jumping, or even a simple squat, the knee works hard as a bearer of body weight. If suddenly it feels sore, maybe there are several things that can be the cause.
Most commonly, the pain appears because of excessive load or movements that are too frequent without rest pauses. It can also be due to incorrect movement, such as wrong squat position or knees that bend too much when running. Besides that, flat foot structure or weak muscles around the knee can also add excessive pressure on the joint.
How to Make Sure?
If the pain does not subside, it is better that PRAMITA friends consider further examinations. Several options that can be done include:
X-ray photo, to see the structure of the knee bone
Joint ultrasonography (USG), to detect inflammation or soft-tissue injury
MRI, if suspected there is inner tissue damage such as ligament or cartilage
These examinations aim to ensure the correct diagnosis, so the handling too can suit the need.
Can (It) Be Prevented?
Of course it can! PRAMITA friends can do several simple steps such as:
Warming-up and cooling-down before and after exercise
Use suitable sports shoes
Pay attention to movement technique, especially during weight training or running
Do not force oneself, give the body time to recover
Strengthen thigh and calf muscles, as natural supporters of the knee
In essence, healthy knees are the key to exercise that is consistent and fun. If a complaint is felt, do not underestimate it—better prevented than regret later.
