WHAT IS VITAMIN D?
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that has various benefits in the body, from maintaining bone health to increasing immunity.
When we live in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in strengthening the body's immunity, many people buy Vitamin D supplements and consume them without knowing the effects on the body because the actual levels of Vitamin D in each person are different.
For this reason, it is important to monitor vitamin D levels in the body, especially if someone regularly consumes it in the long term, because excess intake of supplements can cause vitamin D toxicity (poisoning) in the body.
INTERPRETATION:
If the results of the examination of vitamin D levels, as follows:
• < 20 ng/ml deficiency means severe deficiency
• 20-30 ng/ml insufficiency means mild deficiency
• > 30 ng/ml means optimal (adequate vitamin D)
• > 100 ng/ml toxicity.
Notes :
In general, Vitamin D levels: 50 - 80 ng/ml (125-250 nmol/L) in the blood is the optimal concentration which is considered to have additional benefits in addition to maintaining bone health, reducing inflammation, strengthening the immune system, and maintaining blood sugar metabolism.
Suggestions:
If you take Vitamin D regularly in the long term, you should check every 1-3 months to avoid the side effects of excess vitamin D.
