EYE EXAMINATION PANEL FOR DIABETES

To confirm the diagnosis of eye disorders in diabetic patients, the following examinations can be performed:
• Examination of anamnesis / history of disease
• Physical examination
• Laboratory & non-laboratory examinations.
A. HISTORICAL AND PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
Eye examinations performed on patients with Diabetes Mellitus need to be done comprehensively. The examination includes anamnesis or previous patient history and physical examination such as vision, intraocular pressure, field of view, anterior eye examination and funduscopy.
B. SUPPORTING LABORATORY EXAMINATION
Supportive examinations that must be carried out related to Diabetes Mellitus, including:
HbA1c, Fasting blood sugar and 2 hours post-prandial, Fat Profile and Apo-B.
C. NON LABORATORY SUPPORTING EXAMINATION
Several non-laboratory eye examinations can be performed to support clinical examination, including: color fundus photos, Optical Coherence Tomography (especially for the assessment of Macular Edema and Capillary Nonperfusion Areas) and Ultrasonography (especially for assessing vitreous and retinal opacities).
