Examination for diseases:
A. NOSE POLYPS
• Imaging tests
CT Scan or MRI Scan, to see a detailed image of the inside of the nose. This examination can also help determine the location and size of the polyp, as well as the type of tissue growing.
• Allergy test, to find out what triggers inflammation that might cause polyps. This test is carried out by injecting the allergen into the arm or back to see what allergic reactions appear on the skin.
• Biopsy
B. SINUSITIS
• Allergy testing
On the skin, this test helps identify a person's allergens.
• Blood test
Blood tests such as:
• Complete Hematology:
High white blood cell count during fever may indicate severe acute sinusitis & high eosinophil count may be associated with severe allergies, some types of chronic sinusitis with nasal polyposis and asthma.
• Serum immunoglobulins
Low levels of immunoglobulins (for example, IgG and IgA) can indicate decreased immunity, while high levels of IgE can be associated with allergies.
• Microbiological examination.
Sinus and nasal culture examination, by taking samples or tissue culture from inside the nose or sinuses, then identifying the presence of bacterial or fungal infections. Culture results in the form of antibiotic sensitivity and fungal or bacterial resistance profiles can help determine appropriate antibiotic treatment.
