ff you may be at risk of CHD, more specific tests can be carried  out including

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)The electrocardiogram records the heart's electrical activity while resting
  • stress test, sometimes called a treadmill test or exercise test, helps a doctor find out how well your heart handles work. As your body works harder during the test, it requires more oxygen, so the heart must pump more blood. The test can show if the blood supply is reduced in the arteries that supply the heart. You will begin to exercise by walking on a treadmill. The rate of exercise or degree of difficulty will gradually increase. A Nurse or a Cardiologist will supervise you during the test
  • Echocardiogram (ECHO)This non-invasive test translates sound waves from your chest into pictures of your heart. It provides information about how the heart is pumping, how blood flows in the heart and blood vessels, how large the heart is and how the valves are working.
