What's Your Love Language?
Sat, 11 Feb 2023“I love You, Baby”
Not everyone can express their love verbally. This is important to understand so that #sahabatpramita does not mistakenly think that your spouse is no longer in love just because they never said I Love you.
Some people have different and unique love languages, they have their own way to express their love. In his book "The Five Love Languages", Dr. Gary Chapman wrote that every human being has at least one of the following five languages:
1. Words of Affirmation
Compliments can make someone feel appreciated and loved. A simple compliment like "Thank you, dear, your cooking is the best" will bring her to the seventh heaven.
2. Acts of Service
Talk less, do more - this is the principle of those with acts of service as their love language. Treating your significant other nicely is much more valuable than saying ‘I love you’. Simple things like opening their car door or listening to their stories are a priceless expression of love for them.
3. Physical Touch
Holding hands or rubbing the head is some examples of the true expression of love for them. Their motto is ‘Words are cheap, actions are priceless’.
4. Quality Time
Doing nothing, but spending time together. Having quality time with family, not interrupted by smartphone is an example of what your spouse likes. They will feel that they are the most important person in the world
5. Receiving Gifts
Gifts are often interpreted as a form of attention and affection. The gifts don’t have to be a fancy or branded ones, a simple gift is enough to express your love to those with receiving gifts as their love language.
Is it important to know the language of love? Absolutely. It will make us easier and more efficient in showing our love, and certainly minimize misunderstanding in the relationship. So, have you figured out the love language of yours and those you love?
