What are Parents Yelling at Kids For?
Mon, 30 Oct 2023Reasons Why Yelling at Kids is not a Good Idea
Kids are a precious gift in our lives. They bring joy, laughter, and the promise of a brighter future. However, when we feel frustrated or angry, we often tend to yell at them. There is nothing good about yelling at kids, and here are some reasons why we shouldn't do it.
1. Yelling does not build a good relationship.
When we yell at kids, we make them feel scared and unsafe. They might avoid us or even refuse to talk to us. This can damage the good relationship between parents and children. What we want is to create a trusting and open environment, so that kids feel comfortable communicating with us.
2. Yelling can damage their self-esteem.
When we yell at kids, we make them feel worthless and incapable. This can damage their self-esteem and hinder their personal growth. As parents, our duty is to support and build their self-confidence, not tear it down.
3. Yelling is not effective in changing behavior.
Yelling at kids is not effective in changing their behavior. Instead, it only makes them scared and avoid problems. Instead of yelling, try talking calmly and with understanding. Discuss the consequences of their behavior and help them understand why it is wrong. With a more thoughtful approach, we can achieve more positive behavior changes.
