Tips for Overcoming Allergic Skin
Fri, 19 Nov 2021
Ouch, why is my skin itchy and red after eating crab?
Be careful, maybe it is one of the symptoms of allergies. Allergy is one of the body's reactions when it comes in contact with an allergy trigger.
Allergies are often personal, meaning that contact with a substance can cause allergy symptoms, while in others it does not. This is a reaction of a person's immune system to a substance, which is not the case in other people.
Normally, the immune system will react to objects that are harmful to the body such as viruses, bacteria, and toxic substances. But in allergy sufferers, the immune system also reacts to special substances that are actually harmless and then cause certain symptoms, such as itching and redness of the skin. These substances in allergy sufferers are referred to as allergens.
Allergic reactions will occur when exposed to allergens. Allergens in each person can be different, for example, the content of lactose in milk, components in animals such as mites or dead skin cells, pollen in plants, or it could be chemicals found in drugs or beauty products.
Here are tips for dealing with skin allergies:
1. Choose a comfortable material to cover the allergic area in order to reduce the desire to scratch the skin.
2. Relieve itching by compressing the itchy skin with cold water so that it feels cooler.
3. Overcome the risk of irritation by choosing clothes made of cotton and absorb sweat. This will reduce the moisture in the skin that causes rashes and skin irritation.
4. Perform allergy testing at a trusted Clinical Laboratory to determine the cause of the allergy.
5. Remember allergens and avoid them
6. Obey the doctor's advice, including taking medication when needed
7. Watch for allergy symptoms that appear. Immediately return to the doctor if the rash does not heal after 2-3 weeks.
