Supporting Examination of Stroke

As an initial step in diagnosis, the doctor will ask the patient or patient's family members about several things, which include:

• Symptoms experienced, onset of symptoms, and what the patient was doing when they occurred.
• Types of drugs being consumed.
• Has the patient ever had a head injury.
• Checking the medical history of patients and their families related to heart disease, minor stroke (TIA), and stroke.

The recommended examinations for stroke patients include laboratory tests, including: Complete Hematology, blood clotting factors (PT-INR, APTT), Platelet Aggregation Test, Lipid profile (Total cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL), Liver function (SGOT, SGPT). ), Blood Glucose, Kidney Function (Urea and Creatinine), Blood Electrolytes and other supporting examinations, including ECG, Carotid Doppler Ultrasound and Trans Cranial Doppler (TCD).

Routine examination is useful for monitoring risk factors so that modifications can be made, such as high cholesterol and blood glucose, hypertension, blood that is too thick and blood clotting disorders.

PATIENT PREPARATION AND EXAMINATION MATERIALS

• It is necessary to prepare for fasting before carrying out the examination, about 10 - 12 hours before the specimen is taken.
• The examination material used is blood from veins.
