Stomach Health During Fasting
Tue, 19 Mar 2024Fasting can benefit stomach health by reducing stomach acid secretion, which can lower the risk of stomach wall ulcers. Additionally, fasting can reduce movement in the stomach and intestines, helping to alleviate symptoms of gastritis and reduce stress, which can trigger stomach disorders.
However, to maintain stomach health during fasting, especially for those with acid reflux disease, there are several things to consider:
• Do not skip suhoor (pre-dawn meal). Suhoor is an important time to replenish the body's energy during fasting. Make sure to consume healthy and nutritious foods during suhoor.
• Avoid spicy and acidic foods. Spicy and acidic foods can trigger an increase in stomach acid.
• Increase fiber intake, such as fruits, vegetables, and grains. Fiber can help regulate digestion and reduce the risk of constipation.
• Avoid overeating. Eating too much at once can make the stomach work too hard. It is better to eat in small, frequent portions.
• Eat slowly. Eating slowly can help the body digest food better.
• Avoid staying up late. Staying up late can make the body more stressed, which can trigger stomach disorders.
• Get enough rest. Sufficient rest can help the body become healthier and more energetic.
If you experience symptoms of stomach disorders during fasting, such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, or bloating, consult a doctor immediately.
