Stay Fresh During Fasting

Mon, 25 Mar 2024

Fasting is not just about restraining hunger, but also the challenge of keeping the body hydrated. We all know that our bodies need about 2 liters of fluid each day. So, how can we avoid dehydration while fasting?

Smart Water Drinking Habits: Divide your drinking time throughout the day - have a glass of water when breaking your fast, after dinner, during Isya' and Tarawih prayers, before bedtime, upon waking up, during sahur (pre-dawn meal), and before Subuh prayer. Don't drink too much at once; aim for around 250-300 mL per glass. This will help your body absorb fluids effectively.

Stay Refreshed with Fruits and Vegetables: Watermelon, strawberries, oranges , spinach, and broccoli are some options that are rich in water content. Include them as part of your iftar (meal to break the fast) or sahur menu.

Avoid Caffeine: Tea and coffee can make you feel more thirsty quickly. Try reducing consumption of these beverages especially during sahur.

Cool Down with Cold Showers: Hot temperatures cause the body to lose fluids. Taking cold showers can help maintain skin hydration and keep your mind feeling fresh.

So prepare yourself with these tips and enjoy the moments of fasting with a well-hydrated and energized body.
