Sex Education for Teenagers
Fri, 21 Jul 2023Many parents feel uncomfortable when it comes to talking about sex with their teenage children. However, sex education for teenagers is important. It's better for them to learn from their parents rather than from friends who may provide incorrect information.
1. Start from an Early Age
Sex education should start from an early age, before puberty. Parents can teach children about private body parts that should not be seen or touched by others, and how to report to teachers or parents if someone touches those sensitive body parts.
2. Use Simple Language
When discussing sex with teenagers, parents should use language that is easy for them to understand. Using slang and a bit of humor can make the discussion enjoyable and easily comprehensible.
3. Discuss the Physical and Emotional Aspects of Sex
Sex education should not only cover the physical aspects of sex but also the emotional aspects. Teenagers need to be aware of the emotional impact of sexual activities, including the possibility of heartbreak or conflicts in relationships.
4. Religious and Cultural Aspects
When discussing sex, it is essential to talk about religious and cultural perspectives. Parents can discuss the boundaries of friendships allowed in their religion and Indonesian culture, as well as those that are prohibited.
With proper sex education, teenagers can understand and respect their own bodies and build healthy and responsible relationships in accordance with religious and cultural guidelines in Indonesia.
