Pumpkin, the Delicious Yet Nutrious

Americans and several other countries public often use pumpkin as decorations to celebrate Halloween. In Indonesia, pumpkin is widely consumed during Ramadan, as a compulsory ingredient for kolak or cake.

Pumpkin is one of the vegetables recommended by medical experts to reduce cholesterol and weight loss. Pumpkin contains many anti-oxidant such as vitamine A, vitamine C, and vitamine E. 100 grams Pumpkin contains the highest vitamine A in cucurbitaceae vegetable family.

According toUSDA Food Composition data obtained from research results, pumpkin also contains karetenoid or beta-carotene, potassium and iron, which function to treat ulcers and stomach acid.

Another benefit of pumpkin for health is to stabilize blood sugar by maintaining a diet because pumpkin is a low-sugar calorie type. The magnesium content in pumpkin can relax the nerves, besides that pumpkin seeds contain iron which is very much needed to maintain health, especially anemia which often occurs in women.

So, there is nothing wrong with adding pumpkin to our list of food ingredients so that our bodies are healthier and maintain a more healthy weight.
