Pneumonia Screening Panel

Thu, 12 Sep 2024

The diagnosis of pneumonia depends on the type of pneumonia and its severity. Several laboratory tests can be conducted to assist in diagnosing pneumonia:

1. The doctor will examine symptoms and signs of pneumonia, such as pulse rate, breathing frequency, body temperature, and lung sounds.
2. Chest X-rays can help the doctor see if there are changes in the lungs that indicate pneumonia.
3. A complete blood count can help the doctor determine if there is an infection in the body.
4. A sputum test involves taking a sample of sputum from the lungs to test for bacteria or fungi that may cause infection.

Once pneumonia is diagnosed, the doctor will begin treatment appropriate to the cause of the pneumonia and its severity.
