Healthy Workers, Increased Productivity
Tue, 11 Jul 2023Regulation of the Minister of Manpower Number Per. 03/Men/1982 concerning Occupational Health Services. The objectives of the health service business based on these regulations include:
1. Provide assistance to workers in adjusting to their work
2. Protect workers against any health problems arising from work or the work environment
3. Improving physical health, mental (spiritual) condition and physical abilities of the workforce
4. Provide treatment and care as well as rehabilitation for sick workers.
Health services carried out for the prevention, diagnosis, handling of work accidents or work-related illnesses as well as the provision of rehabilitation for workers who experience accidents or illnesses in the workplace. One of the K3 institutions in the company, as a means of protecting workers against any health problems arising from work or the work environment.
Facilities for implementing comprehensive occupational health efforts (promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative).
In accordance with these points, the implementation of occupational health services must be carried out in a comprehensive and integrated manner. Occupational health services are comprehensive and include the following efforts:
1. Promo:
It is an activity that aims to increase the knowledge level of the workforce in the hope that their habits and behavior will change to become healthy and safe at work. Examples of promotive activities are organizing counseling, making animated posters/videos about occupational health, occupational nutrition.
2. Preventive:
Is a preventive measure aimed at preventing workers from becoming sick or injured, for example by vaccination, medical check-up, procedures for using personal protective equipment.
3. Curative
It is an act of treatment or management for workers who are sick or have a work accident.
4. Rehabilitative
It is an effort to assist the recovery of workers who are sick and/or experience work accidents so that the organs of the body can function again, and do not cause disability/restrictions.
Occupational health services in companies can be carried out by organizers with various options including:
1. Organized by the management themselves, for example:
• Company Polyclinic
• Company hospital
2. Organized by management by entering into partnerships with doctors or other health services, for example:
• JPK (Occupational Health Service Guarantee) BPJS
• Doctor in private practice
• Public health center
• Private polyclinic
• Hospital
• Private medical clinics/ Laboratories (such as Main Clinic & PRAMITA medical laboratories) and others.
In carrying out procedures Occupational health services are carried out with the following principles:
1. The implementation of occupational health services is led and run by a doctor who is approved by the director.
2. Managers are obliged to provide professional freedom to doctors who carry out occupational health services.
3. Doctors and health workers in carrying out occupational health services are free to enter workplaces to carry out examinations and obtain the necessary information.
4. The management must submit a report on the implementation of occupational health services to the director.
Before starting occupational health activities in a company, it is very necessary to have support from top management in the form of high commitment. Without support from the management, it is impossible for this activity to be carried out properly and consistently. This activity is expected to improve the health status and productivity of Indonesian workers.
