HDL vs LDL What's The Difference?
Sun, 15 Oct 2023Dear #sahabatpramita, you might have heard of HDL and LDL cholesterol, right? But, what are the differences? Let's discuss in a fun and easy way!
HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol is the "good cholesterol". HDL helps to transport cholesterol from the body to the liver to be processed and disposed of, maintaining cholesterol balance in the body. High levels of HDL are considered good for heart health.
On the other hand, LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) cholesterol is the "bad cholesterol". LDL carries cholesterol from the liver to the whole body, and if LDL levels are too high, it can accumulate in the arterial walls and form plaque, increasing the risk of heart disease.
So, in short, HDL helps to clean up cholesterol while LDL causes cholesterol buildup. Therefore, it is important to maintain high levels of HDL and low levels of LDL.
How can we do that? A healthy diet, regular exercise, and a healthy lifestyle are key. Avoid foods high in saturated and trans fats, and choose foods that are high in fiber and unsaturated fats. Physical activity can increase HDL levels and decrease LDL levels.
So, balance your cholesterol levels by keeping HDL high and LDL normal.
