After Eid, Let's Take a Medical Check Up

Wed, 17 Apr 2024

The Eid season is over and now most Indonesians have started to return to their routine. However, before returning to carrying out daily activities, we need to do a health check first. This is because typical Eid foods that are often consumed contain salt, fat, high sugar and high calories which are not good for health.

The phenomenon of experiencing health problems after celebrating Eid is often experienced by many people. Generally, this is because we often go crazy when eating food during Eid. The habit of eating without restrictions is not good for health, either now or in the future, this situation can invite several unwanted diseases. As a preventive measure, we can do a medical check-up (MCU).

The benefit of medical check-ups is to detect certain health conditions, because the body adjusts to changes in eating schedules during fasting, as well as the types of food usually consumed during Eid. Medical check-ups should be carried out regularly, this can help evaluate and diagnose the risk of certain health problems that may occur so that a doctor can be immediately consulted. Types of health checks that are usually carried out after Eid:

- Checking blood sugar levels is one type of health check that is commonly carried out after Eid. This is important for monitoring blood glucose levels and detecting the risk of diabetes. Types of blood sugar level checks:

- Fasting Blood Sugar (GDP)

- Current Blood Sugar (GDS)

- Blood sugar 2 hours after eating (2 HourPP)

- HbA1c (hemoglobin A1C test)

- Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT)

- Fat Profile Check, typical Eid food dishes that are high in fat also tend to be less healthy. This can increase fat levels, especially bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and is a risk factor for blockages in blood vessels, which can trigger strokes and heart blockages. Lipid profile examination includes:

- Total cholesterol

- Triglycerides

- HDL (High Density Lipoprotein)

- LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein)

- VLDL (Very Low Density Lipoprotein)

- Apolipoprotein A (Apo A)

- Apolipoprotein B (Apo B)

- Lipoprotein(a)

Apart from that, electrocardiography (EKG), treadmill, echocardiography or ultrasound of the heart can be carried out.

- Check uric acid levels, increased uric acid levels are usually caused by foods consumed that are rich in purine, such as seafood, nuts.

Apart from checking the parameters mentioned above, to find out that all our body organs are functioning properly, we can carry out examinations:

- Liver Function (SGOT, SGPT, Gama GT)

- Kidney Function (Ureum, Creatinine, Cystatin C and routine urine)

- Routine and complete hematology

Doing MCU regularly can prevent the emergence of serious illnesses.
