Hypertension and Its Connection to Impotence

Wed, 18 Dec 2024

Hello PRAMITA friends! Hypertension occurs when systolic blood pressure exceeds 140 mmHg and diastolic exceeds 90 mmHg. Common symptoms include headaches, chest pain, vision problems, and fatigue. About 95% of hypertension cases are idiopathic (primary hypertension), while 5% result from conditions like kidney disease or atherosclerosis.

Hypertension leads to serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and peripheral artery disease. It’s also closely linked to impotence. High blood pressure damages blood vessels, reducing blood flow to the penis and doubling the risk of erectile dysfunction, particularly in older men.

Prevent hypertension by:
1. Maintaining a healthy weight.
2. Reducing salt intake.
3. Exercising regularly.
4. Eating nutritious foods.
5. PRAMITA friends are encouraged to consult their doctor regularly to prevent hypertension and its complications.
