Condoms Do Not Provide 100% Protection

Tue, 3 Dec 2024

Hey, Sahabat Pramita! Did you know that even though condoms are often seen as safe, they don’t provide 100% protection against HIV/AIDS? Let’s discuss why!

Size of Condom Pores vs. Size of HIV Virus

While condoms are highly effective at reducing the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the fact is that the size of condom pores is about 5 microns, while the HIV virus is only around 0.1 microns. This means that in certain conditions, HIV can still pass through, although the chance is small.

Faithfulness to One Partner

The safest way to protect yourself from HIV/AIDS is by being faithful to one partner who is also HIV-free. A healthy and safe relationship begins with trust and loyalty. Faithfulness can be your best shield against the risk of HIV.

Avoid High-Risk Activities

In addition to being faithful to one partner, avoiding high-risk behaviors like having multiple partners is a smart way to stay healthy. Sharing needles for drug use also increases the risk of contracting HIV.

Condoms are Still Important but Not Completely Safe

Condoms are still a good protection tool if used correctly, especially for preventing unwanted pregnancies and reducing the risk of STIs. However, Pramita friends should be aware that condoms are not a perfect solution for preventing HIV transmission. Always get regular health check-ups and avoid risky behaviors.

To protect yourself from HIV/AIDS, in addition to using condoms, Pramita friends should prioritize loyalty to your partner and avoid high-risk activities. Take care of your health and your partner's for a healthier, safer life.
