Mon, 31 Oct 2022A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is reduced due to a blockage or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. Stroke attacks can occur suddenly and must be treated immediately because it can be a dangerous condition.
If not treated promptly, a stroke can cause prolonged brain damage, long-term disability, or even death.
Stroke is a condition when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted due to a blockage (ischemic stroke) or rupture of a blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke). This condition causes certain areas of the brain to not receive oxygen and nutrients, resulting in the death of brain cells.
In general, stroke prevention is almost the same as preventing heart disease, namely by adopting a healthy lifestyle, such as:
- Keeping blood pressure normal
- Don't smoke and don't drink alcohol
- Maintain ideal body weight
- Exercise regularly
- Under go regular check-ups for medical conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension.
